Antique Weekend  is one of the world's largest semi-annual antique and collector events.  Antique weekend takes place the first weekend of April and October in more than a half dozen communities located midway between Houston and Austin.

Things to See and Do:

Smithville Texas  is an antique bargain hunter's paradise. Antique lovers' and collector alike will love the dozen's of shops where bargains and treasures await you.  Smithville is located on the tree shaded banks of the Colorado river almost midway between Houston and San Antonio, and less than a hour's drive from Austin, the state's capitol.  The site of a major Hollywood movie, "Hope Floats", starring Sandra Bullock, the town has all the charm and feel of a bygone era.  You will feel right at home here.  Be sure to ask about the Historic Walking and Riding Tours !

MKT Railroad Museum and ParkMain & 1st Sts., 512-237-2313, On the grounds of this park is a restored MKT depot as well as a museum featuring many early railroad artifacts, logs, and ledgers related to railroad workers. A children's playground and gazebo are also on the grounds.

Painted Churches of Texas tour:   These chuches transport the visitor back to a different era and time. Built by early German and Czech settlers who sought to preserve their faith and culture, they are now listed on the National Register of Historic places.  Most are within a short driving distance of Smithville.  

Central Texas Museum of Automotive History :  This first class automotive museum features over 130 restored classic autombiles ranging from a 1901 Holsman to a 1988 Trabant. The collection includes both American and European vintage cars. See website for additional details.
